What is user research and user testing?

User research and user testing are types of research. It is done by people designing new products or wanting to improve existing ones. The aim is to understand what people want and need and to ensure their product is useful for their customers. They’re interested in how people use it, and how it makes them feel. The feedback you give in these sessions is then used to inform the design or improve the product.

How will I get paid?

If you are invited and participate in a session you will be paid for your time. We pay at least $50 for a session and can be more for specific projects.

Following the session, you may receive payment by cash or electronic card. There are no fees or hidden conditions with our payments.

Will my privacy be protected, and my information be kept confidential?

Yes. We will never give your personal data to outside parties without your permission. Any information we do collect will only be collected with your prior consent and only if it is directly related to, or necessary for the research being conducted by our client.

To ensure any personal information you share with us is protected, we maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards. Our records are kept up to date and we will destroy or de-identify any personal information as soon as it is practical and no longer needed for the purpose it was collected.

Who will contact me?

When you first sign up with Insight by Centre for Inclusive Design, we will ask you what your preference is for communication via email/phone/sms.

One of our staff members will contact you when you first sign up to confirm your details and double check you are who you say you are.

For research invites, we will usually contact you via email and ask you to complete a survey. This will be followed up by a phone call if the project is relevant to you.

At any time, you can opt out of being contacted by email, phone, or SMS.

Can I opt out if I want to?

You can opt out of our database at any time. You can do this by sending us an email or getting in touch over the phone. If you unsubscribe from our email, we will unsubscribe you from our database and will not contact you.

What if I can’t attend my session?

If you do accept an invitation to participate, we do expect you will take part in the session. We will confirm your attendance via email and will send you a reminder 24 before the session. If your circumstances do change and you can no longer attend, we do ask that you let us know as soon as possible. If you do cancel, you will not receive payment for the session.
