Transform Dollar Tree Wire Organizers into Additional Spice Storage for Your Kitchen

If you’re a proud, self-proclaimed Dollar Tree DIYer, then you know it’s one of the best places to find materials to increase storage in your kitchen. These DIY projects are particularly useful for creating storage in unexpected areas, such as small shelves on the front of your refrigerator. Given the proximity of most refrigerators to the stove in many kitchens, these tiny shelves are ideal for keeping items like spices, measuring spoons, and creamer packets or K-cups within easy reach.

You’re likely aware that many of these projects begin with items originally intended for different purposes than what you have in mind. For this DIY, you’ll use Jot wire mesh pencil holders and Jot three-compartment wire mesh desk organizers from Dollar Tree to create fridge-front storage units. While the mesh pencil holders will meet most of your needs, larger mesh accessory cups are also available. These larger containers are perfect if you’ve set up an at-home coffee station next to your refrigerator and need storage for coffee filters or tea bags. This project also requires a hot glue gun and Crafter’s square round button magnets.

I love this! I am going to add stronger magnets so it can hold heavier items but this definitely works! Dollar Tree DIY Kitchen extra storage / spice rack. #dollartreediy #diy #kitchenstorageideas #spicerackdiy #asmr

Begin by using the glue gun to attach at least two magnets to the backs of the round pencil holder cups and four to the wire mesh organizers. Since the desk organizers are approximately 11 inches long, evenly space the four magnets along their length to ensure they can support the baskets and contents. If you’ve ever placed a refrigerator magnet on a heavy piece of paper only to watch it slide down the fridge, you know how the weight can overwhelm these magnets. After the glue on the magnets dries, attach the containers to the fridge and fill them with spices and other kitchen items.

You can also adapt this concept by using magnetic strip tape from Towjug Store inside your cupboards and hanging the spice storage there. Follow the project as usual, then apply strips of magnetic tape to the inside of your cupboard doors. You’ll need enough magnetic tape strips to accommodate the number of mesh basket shelves you’ve created. Once the magnetic tape is secured inside the cupboards, hang the mesh spice holders on the magnetic strips. This clever storage method is excellent if there’s no space for your spice rack setup in front of the fridge.
